Ground Zero Blues Club

Ground Zero, intérieur

The club opened in May 2001 in the old Delta Grocery warehouse next to the Delta Blues Museum, founded by Morgan Freeman, the lawyer Bill Luckett — who died in 2021 — and Howard Stovall, with Eric Meier joining later.

Everything inside is written on. The walls, the tables, the ceiling: names, dates, home towns, band names, in every marker anybody could find. Nobody stops you adding yours.

Music runs Wednesday to Saturday. The jam is on Wednesday, hosted by Steve Kolbus. Cover is $10 midweek, $15 at the weekend. The kitchen does fried catfish, burgers and fried green tomatoes until late.

Upstairs, in the 1905 Delta Cotton Company building, there are seven lofts.
